Chery's diesel plug-in hybrid ute demand doubles ahead of Q4 launch

Chery says interest in its Stockman diesel plug-in hybrid ute has roughly doubled in two months, with pre-orders now pushing 2000 and registrations of interest sitting just under 10,000. Chery Motor Australia's COO Lucas Harris said dealers are fielding a steady stream of walk-ins, though these are informal deposits for now. Formal online pre-orders with launch incentives open October 1. The Stockman pairs a 2.5-litre turbo-diesel with an electric motor for a combined 350kW and 800Nm, plus up to 100km of electric-only range on the NEDC cycle. It'll tow 3500kg braked and is aimed squarely at the BYD Shark 6 and GWM Cannon Alpha PHEV, but with diesel instead of petrol under the bonnet. Full pricing lands closer to the Q4 launch.
