Anadolu Isuzu's Grand Toro XL named 2026 Minibus of the Year in Spain, diesel and hybrid range shown at FIAA Madrid
Why it matters: A Turkish manufacturer picking up a national vehicle-of-the-year award at a major European bus and coach fair, while still leaning on diesel and hybrid drivetrains alongside its electric line-up, shows conventional diesel product is far from dead in the coach segment even as European shows tilt toward EVs.
Anadolu Isuzu showed four models at FIAA 2026, the International Bus and Coach Trade Fair in Madrid (22-24 September), and left with a trophy: the 9.3-metre Grand Toro XL was named Spain's "2026 Minibus of the Year." The diesel-powered Grand Toro Shuttle Bus, an 8.5-metre, 32-seat model built for tourism and airport transfer work, ran a 205 PS engine paired with an Allison automatic gearbox. Sitting alongside it on the stand was the new Kendo Hybrid, the newest addition to Anadolu Isuzu's range, plus the battery-electric NovoCiti Volt. Trade press at the show also reported the firm's Grand Toro coach on display fitted with a Cummins diesel engine. The line-up underlines the company's push into diverse European mobility segments without abandoning combustion power.
